Having been featured on numerous television talk shows and news programs, resveratrol is becoming one of the hottest health and fitness supplements on the market. Scientists and researchers are doing extensive testing on the effects of this newly found compound and they are really excited about initial results. While there are years more of clinical trials needed before it will be approved by the FDA, you can get nutritional supplements today and may be able to start getting the benefits that have been demonstrated in lab tests.
You probably already eat foods or drink drinks that contain resveratrol. One of the most common drink sources is red wine. You can also get it in red grapes and peanuts. You get the same amount of resveratrol in a cup of peanuts or red grapes as in a glass of red wine. While any resveratrol may provide a health benefit, the levels of resveratrol that are being tested in the lab are much stronger than what you can find in food. Fortunately, there are resveratrol supplements available that are made from sources like red wine or Japanese knotweed that have a lot more resveratrol in them.
Since it would be hard to get the level being used in clinical studies, resveratrol supplements are the only way you can try to get the benefits being tested. Some supplements are as much as 500 times stronger than a glass of wine and most are at least 100 times stronger. While these supplements are unproven and not approved by the FDA, many people are eager to try them and see if this could be the fountain of youth. Several supplement companies are offering free trials if you cover the cost of shipping. Free trials usually come with an automatic monthly shipments that are not free so you need to make sure you understand the terms and cancel after your trial if you don’t want to continue receiving your resveratrol supplement.
You are probably reading this to find out what benefits resveratrol may provide you with so lets talk about some of the studies on resveratrol. There are multiple reports published on reputable sites like WebMD and Wikipedia that describe some of the benefits seen in the lab. One report details how resveratrol prevents estrogen from creating breast cancer cells. Another report details how lab rats taking resveratrol supplements live longer and healthier lives. There are a lot more promising tests, but at this point nothing has been approved by the FDA. I don’t want to belabor that point, but you need to know that nothing has been proven yet. With that said, there is reason to believe that taking resveratrol supplements could have a positive effect on your health.
This article should be used for informational purposes only. The FDA has not approved resveratrol supplements for the treatment of any disease. You should consult your doctor for any treatments needed and before starting any exercise or diet program.
