I’m convinced that it’s not too far off to propose that a diet of green smoothies can easily give you practically every thing your body requires to be healthy. Besides maybe Vitamin D and Vitamin B12, in my opinion, these smoothies have it all (with protein to boot). The major dilemma I faced when I started off on the smoothies were the unhealthy cravings. Learn how I got past them.
I would like to start out by telling you that this information is just my opinion which is based on data I have read about natural health and from the 10+ years eating and living the way I have daily. Also, with my blood work done twice each year that shows no deficiencies, I think that this information is valid and very valuable. Possible it just works for me, my genetic makeup and my body type, I can’t say for sure. However, just like cigarette smoking could probably have an affect on each of us with various degrees of health negatives, the green smoothie diet, I feel, could probably have an affect on each of us with various degrees of health positives. Try it for yourself, after talking about it with a naturopath or other doctor initially of course.
The body is equipped to heal itself correct? Why are people always sick then? Perhaps that statement is wrong and the body can’t heal itself naturally? No! The dilemma is that men and women a) don’t provide the body with the sufficient amount of raw materials, by way of diet for the most part, it requires to reset itself and b) we constantly bombard it with crap that hinders the function of the limited number of resources that we actually do supply it.
I’m a big admirer of the raw food lifestyle. To suggest that adding heat to foods over and above a specific temperature destroying much needed enzymes that are important for digestion makes sense to me. Further, it is indicated that to get the most from our foods we should masticate it until it’s completely liquefied. We have troubles handling large morsels of food. Also, I feel that we can survive with a a diet of chiefly fruits and dark green vegetables, with the occasional healthy fats. In regards to healthy fats, avocados, soaked nuts and seeds is all I usually have.
My main meals every single day are comprised of lots of raw fruits and green veggies in the form of green smoothies. Being that they are in a liquid state, my body is able to assimilate the nutrients without a problem.
A huge hurdle for some people when changing the way they eat, and a big one for me is addressing cravings for bad foods. Just like someone addicted to alcohol or drugs must detoxify in order to heal, we essentially must to do the same thing. The cells in our body are made up of stuff from foods that we have consumed in the past. The body usually craves much of the same unhealthy foods that contribute to the contents of each one of the cells in our body. For drug detoxes, many times, dry sauna therapy is used to removes the drugs through perspiration. That generally helps eliminate the physical drug cravings which will allow the person an improved chance at sobriety. For us, improving our eating may possibly trigger the clearing of toxic foods as well which can be naturally removed in stool, perspiration and urine. However, we may still crave those foods while some of the toxins in our cells are still there.
I, myself, have found that right away after having the first drink of my green smoothie the cravings for greasy foods, meat, sweets, salt, etc started to calm down. After I was finished drinking the smoothie, the cravings passed completely and I would be content. The problem then was that the cravings would come back as I grew hungry. So I started to make sure I was on top of it and would have another green smoothie available before the cravings would reoccur, or not too long after they started. The cravings finally subsided for good as I cleaned out my system. And then I began to crave greens instead!
Now, I would like to ask, do you plan to remain sick with extra pounds or would you like to look into a better diet providing your body everything that it needs?
