When it comes to baking cakes, pies, cookies, and other pastries, you will soon discover that you need a cake pan to get started. This article is meant to help you easily find the right cake pans to go along with your passion for creating great food.
Cake pans come in a great range of prices. Price will be determined by where you shop, and prices will range from cheap, to expensive. Of course, price is not always an indicator of quality, do not expect to pay more for better quality cake pans.
In the end, as long as you purchase a quality cake pan to create you masterpiece in the kitchen, it does not matter how much money spend. Having said that, here are some tips to help you choose a quality pan…
First, you have to make sure it comes from a brand you know and trust. Some of the better known brands out there are Wilton, Norpo, Nordic Ware, and Cuisinart, to name just a few. Sure, you could opt for a lesser known and cheaper brand, but just remember that old adage, “You get what you pay for.”
Once you have chosen the brand, you then need to choose a shape. How do you figure out what shape is needed?
The best way to choose a shape is to figure out why you are baking the cake in the first place. Is it a birthday party? If so, for a child, teenager, or adult? If not a birthday party, then maybe a Super Bowl party, a family get together, a holiday, etc? The list goes on and on.
Once you know why you are doing the baking, then you can figure out the theme of that special occasion. You can then base the shape of your cake on that theme.
Once you have a shape of the cake pan figured out, you can then decide the material of your pan. Most pans are made of metal, with aluminum being the more popular. This is because aluminum cake pans are durable, light weight, and inexpensive. They’re also easy to clean up. And because aluminum is so malleable, yet strong, it can easily be made in a variety of shapes and sizes compared to other metals.
Something else to remember when choosing a cake pan is size. Make sure to measure your oven so that you know whether or not the pan you choose will fit. The last thing you want is to spend good money on a cake pan that doesn’t fit in your oven.
When you’re shopping for cake pans, just remember that baking should be fun, not a chore. So, take your time in choosing shapes and sizes so that you can focus on the actual baking of all those yummy treats!
