With the price of food going up lately, everyone is looking for ways to lower their food costs. You may need to pinch pennies but consuming fast food will cost you more in doctor bills. Making meals at home is always the best way to save on food costs, and it’s the best way to make sure that you and your family eat healthy meals. A chicken-recipe is the ideal answer for what to feed your hungry clan. Chicken is nearly always one of the most inexpensive types of meat, and it’s just as loaded with protein.
Not eating the skin of certain of certain meats can reduce your intake of fat. Great chicken recipes run the gamut from basic fried chicken to cold chicken-salad, and a limitless assortment of ideas. You could have chicken teriyaki one night and chicken spaghetti the next and not get bored with it. An alternative to other foods, preparing a roasted chicken, with vegetables high in nutrients will not only taste good but be healthier. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it! I have a chicken casserole dish that I love to make when my family is in the mood for a dish with Mexican flavor.
When you boil your chicken, you can use any part that you prefer. After it is done, you need to debone it. Cook 1 lb. of pasta in the water that you boiled your chicken until done. After that, reduce the heat to low and then add two cans of chili tomatoes. You can use Rotel tomatoes or something similar. You then add the boiled chicken. Put in half a pound of an easily meltable American cheese (like Veveeta or an equivalent). You can also add mushrooms, onion, or anything else that your family likes. You mix it all together and keep it warm until ready to serve.
I have a great recipe for chicken salad. You can start the simple preparation process by mixing mayonnaise with canned chicken. Just until it is the texture you would like it to be. When adding the sliced almonds and sliced red grapes just use as many as you want – go wild! I prefer to include onions, but my daughter can’t stand them. So I don’t add onions when she is home from school. It is very good both ways. In addition, you have the chance to include any additional ingredients that would suit your taste.
I think this is a very good basic chicken salad recipe. You can put it in a sandwich, use it as a yummy dip for vegetables, or spread it on crackers. I have not found one yet that it is not good with.
